July 31, 2024“Prayer should be the key of the day and the lock of the night.”
– George Herbert
Pastor Wolf von Kilian compiled our August prayer list:
The request for intercession is a vital part of the churches’ ministry to the world. Paul wrote to Timothy: I urge you that supplication, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people (1 Tim 2:1). In times like these the KV asks all members to intercede in their time of prayer for the following:
-Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the protection of Israel. The Jewish people are still the chosen people of God and the church must stand with Israel (Romans 9-11). We pray for an end of the war in Gaza and for a peace agreement and the release of the hostages.
-Pray for the peace in Gaza and for the wellbeing of all inhabitants. Pray for more food, water and medication for the suffering people.
-The crisis between Iran and Israel has come to the fore and the Mullah regime in Iran, has attacked Israel. We pray that this conflict does not expand into a war in the Middle East.
-Two years ago, the Russian president started the special action against the Ukraine. Since then, thousand of civilians, children and soldiers have died. When will it come to an end? Pray against the ongoing attacks of the Russian army, which has so far destroyed many cities, the infrastructure of Ukraine as well as cultural heritage sides.
-The news channels concentrate mostly on the events in Ukraine and the Middle East, but we must also watch carefully
the situation of Africa. Look at Sudan and you will be shocked by the humanitarian crisis due to two fighting generals and their armies. Lots of people are displaced, approximately 8 million people and there is a serious food shortage. The ability to return to normal life is out of reach. Pray for peace and pray for the help and supply of food and lifesaving assistance.

-Our focus on South Africa is an ongoing request. Pray for a peaceful time after the election. We are praying for members of parliament to have the wellbeing of all South Africans on their heart and to stop the gravy train and any kind of corruption.
-Pray for the new home of our congregation, so that it may become a HOP – House, a House of Prayer.
“’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.’”. (Jer 29:11-13)
