July 31, 2024DAILY MEDITATIONS
July 31, 2024WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST MEMBER: We welcome (Pastor) Claudia Nolte Schamm and her family as new members of our congregation. Claudia was Pastor of the St Martini Congregation in Cape Town, before she moved, with her family, to Plettenberg Bay.
May the love of Christ embrace you in our midst, and may the gifts of the Holy Spirit bestowed upon you, also be a blessing to our community.
FINANCES: We are grateful that our church finances are healthy, and we are especially grateful to all members who take their stewardship seriously. We are facing challenging times with rebuilding and relocating our congregation to Cross Street in George. As Pastor and as chairperson of the Church Committee, I take this opportunity to remind you that we cannot exist without the responsible contribution of our members.
While we do not have a fixed membership fee, we encourage every member to evaluate their own financial ability to contribute. Contributions may be made monthly, quarterly or on an annual basis. As Lutherans, we do have compassion for the needs of others and take our engagement in this world seriously. Your contributions are spent wisely and will finance our in-house needs as well as our outreach. Furthermore, we would like to remind our members that our congregation is responsible for a stewardship contribution, payable to the ELCSA Cape Church, which we pay every month. This is directly linked to the salary of our pastor’s post.
Generosity is encouraged in 2 Corinthians 9:7-
„Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compuulsion, for God loves a chearful giver“
„Ein jeder, wie er‘s sich im Herzen vorgenommen hat, nicht mit Unwillen oder aus Zwang, denn einen fröhlichen Geber hat Gott lieb.“ 2. Kor. 9,7 (Lutherbibel 2017)

BRIEF REPORT FROM OUR CHURCH COMMITTTEE MEETING, HELD ON 13 JULY 2024
- The registration of the servitude for the Urn graveyard is still being processed.
- Our application for exemption from Transfer Duty for the purchase of our new premises is also being processed (by SARS).
- Pastor Ronell will continue visiting members, especially inactive members of our congregation, and attempt to encourage their participation. Members can also encourage one another.
- It was decided that the collection of 2 June 2024, which was proposed for the Shelter in Grootbrak, will instead be donated to the Rosemoor Old Age Home in George.
- Once our new premises become available (hopefully by the end of September), the congregation will be invited to visit and make suggestions regarding future utilisation.
- The next committee meeting is planned for September 7, 2024.
