NEWS FROM THE CHURCH COMMITTEE

The property in Cross Str., George has been registered in our congregation’s name. The former owner will vacate the house and relocate at the end of Sept. Thereafter we will invite the congregation to view and give inputs regarding the alterations planned for the property. The process of rezoning from residential to community has been started and will probably take a few months, whereafter we can start with the necessary alterations.

FINANCES:

We should never shy away from reminding one another that our financial contribution to the congregation is part of our spiritual discipline and should be considered prayerfully. Contributions may be made monthly, quarterly or on an annual basis.

It is the Church Committee’s responsibility to manage our finances responsibly; not only regarding our in-house needs, but also for outreach. As Lutherans, we do have compassion for the needs of others and take our engagement in this world seriously. In the past few months we have given of our offerings to The Bible Society, Rosemoor Old Age Home and Vygieshof Old Age Home.

As congregation we are also responsible for a stewardship contribution, payable to the ELCSA Cape Church, which we pay every month. This is directly linked to the salary of our pastor’s post.
